Job Description
Join the Macy’s security team as a Part-time Retail Security Officer, focused on maintaining a safe and secure environment for our customers and colleagues during weekend hours. This stable position requires a vigilant and proactive individual to patrol designated areas, monitor surveillance equipment, and respond to security incidents. You will play a crucial role in preventing loss, deterring theft, and ensuring a positive shopping experience in our San Francisco store. This is an on-site position requiring consistent presence at our retail location.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of the retail store, both inside and outside, to maintain a visible security presence.
- Monitor CCTV and alarm systems for suspicious activity or security breaches.
- Respond promptly and effectively to security incidents, including theft, disturbances, and medical emergencies.
- Assist in the apprehension of shoplifters following company policies and legal guidelines.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records of security-related activities.
- Enforce store policies and procedures to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
- Collaborate with store management and local law enforcement when necessary.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting shoppers and answering inquiries while maintaining security duties.
- Participate in training sessions as required to enhance security skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Basic knowledge of security procedures and protocols.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift moderate weights for extended periods.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail security, loss prevention, or a similar security role.
- Current California Guard Card or ability to obtain one prior to employment.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Demonstrated ability to de-escalate conflicts professionally.
