Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Part-time Design Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for supporting our lead designers with both studio-based tasks and on-site project activities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about interior design, possess strong administrative skills, and be eager to learn and grow within a fast-paced, creative environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of luxury interior design.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead designers with research and sourcing of furniture, fabrics, finishes, lighting, and accessories.
- Prepare presentation materials, mood boards, and sample trays for client meetings.
- Maintain and organize the design library, samples, and material resources.
- Coordinate with vendors for product information, quotes, and order tracking.
- Assist with on-site project installations, staging, and styling as needed.
- Conduct site visits to measure spaces, photograph progress, and document project details.
- Provide administrative support including scheduling appointments, managing correspondence, and maintaining project files.
- Assist with inventory management and tracking of design materials and samples.
- Run errands for design-related tasks, including picking up and dropping off samples or materials.
Required Skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Basic knowledge of design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, SketchUp) is a plus.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for field-based tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or holding a degree/certificate in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- Previous internship or work experience in a design firm.
- Familiarity with local design showrooms, vendors, and resources in Orange County.
- Experience with design management software (e.g., Studio Designer, MyDoma).
