Job Description

We are seeking an innovative and highly motivated Surface Chemist with a strong focus on nanotechnology to join our advanced R&D team. This pivotal role involves designing, synthesizing, and characterizing novel materials with tailored surface properties at the nanoscale. The successful candidate will leverage cutting-edge laboratory techniques and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to develop groundbreaking solutions for various applications, ranging from advanced materials to specialty additives. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and synthesis of nanoscale materials and modify surfaces for specific applications, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Perform comprehensive characterization of surface properties using advanced techniques such as XPS, AFM, SEM, TEM, DLS, contact angle goniometry, and rheology.
  • Develop and optimize new analytical methods and experimental protocols for surface and interface characterization.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, materials scientists, and product developers to seamlessly integrate novel surface chemistries into new product lines.
  • Analyze complex experimental data, interpret results, and present clear, concise findings to internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Maintain meticulous and accurate records of experiments, procedures, and results in laboratory notebooks and digital databases.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols and best practices in a modern, well-equipped laboratory setting.
  • Actively contribute to intellectual property development through patent applications and relevant scientific publications.
  • Mentor junior scientists and technicians, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing research environment.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field with a strong focus on surface chemistry or nanotechnology.
  • Proven industrial or academic experience (minimum 3 years post-Ph.D.) in surface modification, colloid and interface science, or nanomaterials synthesis.
  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced surface characterization techniques (e.g., XPS, AFM, SEM, TEM, DLS, contact angle, zeta potential).
  • Strong theoretical and practical understanding of polymer chemistry, organic synthesis, and fundamental materials science principles.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, statistical methods, and scientific reporting.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong commitment to laboratory safety.
  • Ability to work both independently on complex projects and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary, fast-paced R&D environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postdoctoral experience in an industrial or academic setting specifically focused on applied nanotechnology or advanced materials.
  • Practical experience with thin film deposition techniques, surface coating technologies, or interfacial engineering.
  • Familiarity with computational chemistry or molecular modeling tools to predict and understand surface interactions.
  • A track record of significant scientific publications and/or patent applications in relevant fields.
  • Prior experience working within the specialty chemicals or advanced materials manufacturing industry.
