Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Street Sweeper Operator to join our Public Works team. This is a stable, full-time position focused on maintaining the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of Provo’s streets and public areas. The successful candidate will operate street sweeping equipment to remove debris, leaves, and other waste, contributing directly to the safety and well-being of our community. Key Responsibilities
- Operate street sweeping vehicles and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment, reporting any mechanical issues or defects.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and City of Provo operational procedures.
- Monitor and maintain equipment fluids and minor maintenance as required.
- Empty debris hoppers and dispose of collected materials at designated sites.
- Maintain accurate daily logs of routes, mileage, and materials collected.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding operational status and concerns.
- Respond to special requests or emergency clean-up operations as needed.
- Contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
Required Skills
- Valid Utah Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for routine equipment maintenance checks.
- Strong understanding of traffic laws and safety procedures.
- Physical ability to perform duties including lifting, bending, and prolonged sitting.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience operating street sweeping equipment or similar heavy machinery.
- Knowledge of Provo city streets and geographic areas.
- Experience working for a municipal or public works department.
