Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented GC-MS Analyst to join our high-precision laboratory in Tempe, AZ. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to critical analytical projects using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in GC-MS operation, method development, data interpretation, and troubleshooting. You will be responsible for analyzing complex samples, ensuring data integrity, and maintaining our state-of-the-art instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot GC-MS instruments to ensure optimal performance and data quality.
- Perform routine and non-routine analysis of various sample types using established GC-MS methods.
- Develop, validate, and optimize new GC-MS analytical methods as needed for specific projects.
- Interpret and report analytical data accurately and efficiently, adhering to strict quality control guidelines.
- Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records, including raw data, instrument logs, and sample information.
- Prepare samples for GC-MS analysis, including extraction, derivatization, and dilution.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, quality standards (e.g., ISO 17025, GLP), and company policies.
- Participate in laboratory investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Quality Assurance, and project management.
- Assist in the training of junior analysts and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with GC-MS instrumentation.
- Proficiency in GC-MS software for data acquisition, processing, and interpretation (e.g., ChemStation, MassHunter).
- Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles, particularly separation science and mass spectrometry.
- Experience with method development and validation for GC-MS.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and methods.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Experience with other analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, ICP-MS).
- Knowledge of LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and electronic lab notebooks.
- Experience in a regulated laboratory environment (e.g., GLP, ISO 17025, GMP).
- Familiarity with environmental, pharmaceutical, or food testing matrices.
