Job Description
As an Outbound Shipping Lead, you will be crucial in overseeing daily outbound shipping operations, ensuring all packages are accurately prepared, dispatched, and tracked according to company standards and regulatory requirements. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will be responsible for leading a team, optimizing workflows, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. Your ability to ensure accuracy will directly impact customer satisfaction and operational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of outbound shipping personnel.
- Ensure all outgoing shipments are correctly labeled, documented, and loaded onto appropriate carriers.
- Perform quality checks on packed items to verify accuracy against orders.
- Train new team members on shipping procedures, safety protocols, and company policies.
- Monitor inventory levels of shipping supplies and report needs to management.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve shipping discrepancies and ensure timely deliveries.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the shipping area.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks safely and efficiently.
- Implement and enforce all company and regulatory safety guidelines.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in logistics or warehouse operations, specifically in outbound shipping.
- Strong leadership and team supervision abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and shipping software.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack) with certification.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Previous experience with FedEx shipping protocols and systems.
- First-aid and safety certifications.
- Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies knowledge.
