Job Description

Join Wincanton, a trusted partner in government logistics, as a Government Warehouse Picker. This secure, full-time position offers comprehensive benefits and the opportunity to play a vital role in supporting public services through efficient warehouse operations. You will be responsible for accurately picking and preparing goods for dispatch, ensuring the smooth flow of essential supplies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately pick and pack items according to order sheets.
  • Operate warehouse equipment safely, such as pallet trucks and forklifts (training provided if needed).
  • Perform quality checks on picked items to ensure accuracy and condition.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and security regulations.
  • Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation as required.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to achieve daily targets.

Required Skills

  • Ability to read and understand picking lists and instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to lift and move packages.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Reliable and punctual work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
  • Experience operating MHE (Material Handling Equipment) such as forklift or reach truck (valid license preferred but not essential).
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
