Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and community-minded individuals to join our team as Student Housing Resident Advisors (RAs). As a Live-In RA, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the residential experience for our students, fostering a positive community, and ensuring a safe and inclusive environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills, gain valuable experience in student affairs, and receive a significant rent discount as part of your compensation package. RAs are integral to the daily operations of our residential communities, serving as a first point of contact for residents and contributing to their personal and academic growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement creative social and educational programs to engage residents and build a strong community.
- Serve as a primary resource for residents, providing guidance, support, and referrals to campus resources when needed.
- Enforce community policies and procedures fairly and consistently, ensuring a safe and respectful living environment.
- Respond to emergencies, conduct rounds, and participate in an on-call rotation to address resident concerns and crises.
- Mediate conflicts between residents and facilitate positive resolution.
- Complete administrative tasks including incident reports, maintenance requests, and program evaluations.
- Act as a role model and mentor for residents, promoting academic integrity and personal responsibility.
- Assist with student check-ins and check-outs, and other housing operational tasks as assigned.
Required Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in student development.
- Current enrollment as a student (undergraduate or graduate) with good academic standing.
- Ability to commit to the live-in requirement and on-call responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience living in a residential community.
- Prior leadership experience in student organizations, clubs, or volunteer roles.
- Basic knowledge of emergency response protocols.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
