Job Description

We are seeking an innovative and highly skilled Laboratory Automation Chemist with a strong focus on robotics and technology. This role is crucial for advancing our analytical capabilities, streamlining workflows, and enhancing data integrity across our R&D and manufacturing support labs. The successful candidate will design, implement, and optimize automated chemical processes, leveraging cutting-edge robotics and software solutions. This is a hands-on position requiring expertise in both chemistry and automation engineering, dedicated to driving efficiency and precision in our laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement automated laboratory workflows using robotic liquid handlers, plate readers, and other automated instruments.
  • Program and troubleshoot automation platforms, including writing scripts and configuring software for complex chemical assays.
  • Conduct method development and validation for automated analytical techniques, ensuring high accuracy, precision, and robustness.
  • Integrate new automation technologies with existing laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data analysis platforms.
  • Provide technical expertise and training to laboratory personnel on automated systems and best practices.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and performance monitoring of automated instrumentation.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize automated processes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and data quality.
  • Document all automation protocols, validation results, and troubleshooting efforts meticulously.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies in lab automation, robotics, and analytical chemistry to propose and evaluate new solutions.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline with 3+ years of relevant industry experience, or Master's with 5+ years, or Bachelor's with 7+ years.
  • Proven experience with laboratory automation platforms (e.g., Hamilton, Tecan, Agilent, PerkinElmer robotics).
  • Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, C#, VBScript, or specialized automation software scripting languages).
  • In-depth knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, Mass Spectrometry, spectroscopy).
  • Experience with method development and validation in an automated environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with LIMS integration and data management in an automated lab setting.
  • Knowledge of statistical experimental design (DOE) and data analysis software.
  • Familiarity with GxP regulations and quality control in a regulated laboratory environment.
  • Prior experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or chemical manufacturing industries.
  • Certifications in robotics or automation technologies.
