Job Description
As a FedEx Freight Dock Hand, you will be an essential part of our team, responsible for safely and efficiently loading and unloading freight. This is a physically demanding role in a fast-paced environment, crucial for the smooth operation of our distribution network. We are looking for dedicated individuals who are ready to work hard and contribute to our commitment to excellence. Immediate hire after a successful drug screen.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload freight by hand or using material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Sort and move freight to appropriate dock locations for staging.
- Verify freight counts and document any discrepancies.
- Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Operate in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift, push, and pull freight weighing up to 75 pounds frequently.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for freight documentation.
- Commitment to safety procedures and a safe work environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, dock, or freight handling environment.
- Experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
