Job Description
Are you a 15-year-old teen with a passion for animals and eager to gain hands-on experience in pet care? Petco in Pasco, WA is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Grooming Assistant to support our professional groomers. This entry-level position is perfect for someone looking to learn the ropes of pet grooming, from bathing and brushing to maintaining a clean and safe environment for our furry clients. No prior experience is necessary – we’ll provide all the training you need! Key Responsibilities
- Assist professional groomers with bathing, drying, and brushing dogs and cats.
- Help maintain a clean and organized grooming salon, including cleaning kennels, tools, and work areas.
- Support groomers by preparing animals for their grooming appointments.
- Observe and learn various grooming techniques and animal handling best practices.
- Ensure the comfort and safety of all animals in our care.
- Greet pet parents and assist with check-ins and check-outs as needed.
- Follow all safety and hygiene protocols strictly.
Required Skills
- Must be 15 years of age or older.
- Genuine love for animals (dogs and cats).
- Ability to follow instructions and learn quickly.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks.
- Comfortable working with various dog and cat breeds and temperaments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience volunteering with animals or in a similar setting is a plus, but not required.
- Basic understanding of animal behavior is a plus.
- Availability to work weekends and some holidays.
