Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Industrial Gas Driver with a specialized focus on cryogenic operations to join our team in Norfolk, Virginia. This is a crucial role responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of cryogenic industrial gases to a diverse customer base. The ideal candidate will possess a Class A CDL, all necessary endorsements, and a proven track record of handling cryogenic liquids. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a tractor-trailer to transport cryogenic industrial gases (e.g., Liquid Oxygen, Nitrogen, Argon) to customer sites.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects or malfunctions.
- Load and unload cryogenic products, ensuring proper handling and securement procedures are followed.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery tickets, and all required documentation in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, hazmat regulations, and company operating procedures, especially those related to cryogenic materials.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks and troubleshooting on delivery equipment as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, addressing any client concerns professionally.
- Be available for occasional extended shifts, weekend work, or on-call duties as required by operational needs.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Minimum of 3 years (36 months) of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience.
- Hazardous Materials (H), Tanker (N), and Air Brake endorsements.
- Clean driving record (MVR).
- Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screen, and background check.
- Demonstrated experience with cryogenic liquid hauling and transfer procedures.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols, particularly for hazardous materials.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb, bend, stoop, and operate equipment in varying weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience with industrial gas operations or related bulk chemical transportation.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Defensive driving certification.
