Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Analytical Scientist with a strong focus on method development to join our innovative team in Kahului, HI. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and validating analytical methods for the characterization of complex samples, supporting various research and development projects. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of analytical chemistry principles, extensive hands-on experience with a wide array of analytical techniques, and a proven track record in developing robust and reliable methods that meet regulatory and project requirements. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, mentor junior scientists, and contribute significantly to our scientific advancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, optimization, and validation of novel analytical methods using techniques such as HPLC, GC, LC-MS, GC-MS, Spectroscopy (UV-Vis, FTIR), and other relevant instrumentation.
  • Design and execute experiments for method development and validation, ensuring compliance with internal SOPs and external regulatory guidelines (e.g., ICH, FDA).
  • Perform complex data analysis, interpret results, troubleshoot analytical issues, and propose solutions.
  • Write comprehensive method development reports, validation protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate effectively with R&D, manufacturing, quality control, and regulatory affairs teams to support project milestones.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior analytical scientists.
  • Stay abreast of new analytical technologies and industry best practices, implementing improvements where beneficial.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently and meet established deadlines.
  • Ensure all laboratory activities are conducted safely and in compliance with company policies.

Required Skills

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience, or Master's degree with 8+ years experience, or Bachelor's degree with 10+ years experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with method development and validation for HPLC, GC, LC-MS, or GC-MS.
  • Proficiency in chromatographic data systems (e.g., Empower, Chromeleon) and statistical software.
  • Strong understanding of cGMP/GLP regulations and ICH guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex analytical instrumentation and methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with method transfer and qualification in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting.
  • Knowledge of QbD (Quality by Design) principles in analytical method development.
  • Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals or presentations at scientific conferences.
  • Prior experience leading small teams or mentoring junior staff.
