Job Description

AccentCare is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as a Patient Care Assistant (In-Home). This role offers invaluable hands-on experience providing essential support to patients in their homes, while also providing a clear pathway and support for those aspiring to become Registered Nurses. You’ll work closely with patients, their families, and a supportive clinical team, gaining practical skills that are directly transferable to a nursing profession. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Provide companionship and engage patients in stimulating activities.
- Monitor and accurately report changes in patient condition to the supervising nurse.
- Assist with light housekeeping and meal preparation as needed.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for patients.
- Document care provided accurately and timely according to established protocols.
- Adhere to all AccentCare policies, procedures, and individualized patient care plans.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional standards of care.
Required Skills
- Strong empathy, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with current auto insurance.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
- Physical ability to perform tasks associated with patient care, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- High school diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification or completion of a state-approved PCA/HHA training program.
- Previous experience in a caregiving role, either professional or personal.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and first aid.
- Desire to pursue a nursing career with a commitment to continuous learning.
