Job Description

Join Aftermath Services, the industry leader in biohazard remediation, as a Biohazard Cleanup Assistant. This is a critical role responsible for restoring properties to a safe and habitable state after incidents involving biohazardous materials, including crime scenes, unattended deaths, and other traumatic events. We provide comprehensive, specialized training to ensure you are equipped with the skills and knowledge to perform this challenging yet highly rewarding work with professionalism and empathy. This role demands a strong stomach, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to following strict safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency calls for biohazard cleanup services.
  • Assess cleanup sites and determine appropriate remediation procedures.
  • Properly don and doff personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Clean, disinfect, and decontaminate scenes involving blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.
  • Safely package and transport biohazardous waste according to federal and state regulations.
  • Operate specialized equipment and cleaning solutions.
  • Restore affected areas to a safe, sanitary, and livable condition.
  • Maintain detailed records of services performed and materials used.
  • Adhere strictly to OSHA, EPA, and company safety guidelines.
  • Provide compassionate and professional service to clients in difficult situations.

Required Skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Excellent physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (50+ lbs) and perform strenuous tasks.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Comfortable working in challenging and emotionally sensitive environments.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in hazardous materials handling, restoration, or construction.
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification.
  • Basic knowledge of microbiology or chemistry.
  • Experience with professional cleaning equipment.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
