Job Description
Are you a 15-year-old with a passion for working with other teens, a desire to make a positive impact, and boundless energy? The YMCA of the Suncoast is seeking enthusiastic and responsible Camp Leaders for our School Holiday Program! This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable leadership experience, foster a fun and safe environment for your peers, and be a positive role model during school breaks. You’ll assist in planning and leading engaging activities, ensuring all campers have a memorable and enriching experience. If you love leading games, fostering teamwork, and creating joy, this role is perfect for you!
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and implementation of age-appropriate camp activities for teen participants.
- Act as a positive role model and mentor for campers, promoting respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Actively supervise campers, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times during activities and transitions.
- Engage campers in a variety of recreational, educational, and creative activities, including games, sports, crafts, and discussions.
- Facilitate group discussions and team-building exercises to encourage positive social interaction.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe camp environment.
- Communicate effectively with camp staff, fellow leaders, and campers.
- Adhere to all YMCA policies and procedures, including emergency protocols.
Required Skills
- Must be 15 years of age.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and a positive attitude for working with teenagers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Basic problem-solving skills and adaptability.
- Willingness to learn and take initiative.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (volunteer or paid) in a camp setting, school club, or youth program.
- Experience in leading group activities, sports, or creative arts.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
