Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behavioral Health Music Lead to join our interdisciplinary team in Omaha, NE. This pivotal role involves leading the integration and delivery of music therapy services within our behavioral health programs, ensuring a clinical focus that aligns with best practices and patient recovery goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing therapeutic music programs, providing direct patient care, supervising junior music therapists or program assistants, and contributing to program evaluation and improvement. This position offers stable pay and the opportunity to significantly impact the well-being of individuals managing mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based music therapy programs for diverse behavioral health populations.
  • Provide direct clinical music therapy services to individuals and groups, addressing specific therapeutic goals.
  • Lead and mentor a small team of music therapists or program assistants, ensuring adherence to clinical standards and ethical guidelines.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to integrate music therapy into comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and document patient progress in electronic health records.
  • Facilitate training and education for staff and families on the benefits and applications of music therapy in behavioral health.
  • Stay current with advancements in music therapy research and behavioral health practices.
  • Manage resources and supplies for music therapy programs.

Required Skills

  • Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC)
  • Master's degree in Music Therapy or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years of clinical experience in behavioral health settings
  • Strong understanding of psychopathology, therapeutic modalities, and crisis intervention
  • Proficiency in various musical instruments and vocal techniques
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Competence in electronic health record (EHR) systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Music Therapy or a related field
  • Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role
  • Experience with program development and evaluation
  • Additional certifications in related therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT)
  • Research experience or publications in music therapy and behavioral health
