Job Description
We are seeking skilled and experienced Bricklayers / Masons to join our growing team in Aberdeen. This is a fantastic opportunity for dedicated professionals looking to build a career in the UK. You will be instrumental in laying bricks, blocks, and other building materials to construct or repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches, and other structures in accordance with blueprints and specifications. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials required and to plan layouts.
- Measure and cut bricks, blocks, and other construction materials to specified sizes.
- Mix mortar and other compounds to the correct consistency.
- Lay bricks, blocks, and other materials using mortar, ensuring precise alignment and levelling.
- Construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches, and other structures.
- Check vertical and horizontal alignment of courses with plumb-bob and level.
- Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to size, using trowel, hammer, and chisel or powered abrasive saws.
- Clean and prepare surfaces for masonry work.
- Ensure all work adheres to health and safety regulations and company standards.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction professionals on site.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Bricklayer or Mason.
- Strong understanding of masonry techniques and building codes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in mixing mortar and working with various masonry materials.
- Excellent physical stamina and dexterity.
- Commitment to health and safety practices on construction sites.
- Strong attention to detail and a high standard of craftsmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in bricklaying.
- CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) or equivalent.
- Experience working on large-scale commercial or residential projects.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
