Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Carbon Capture & Sequestration Intern to join our innovative team in Chester. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to real-world projects focused on developing and implementing advanced carbon capture and storage technologies. You will work alongside experienced engineers and scientists, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in the rapidly evolving field of carbon management. This role is designed for individuals passionate about sustainability, climate change mitigation, and groundbreaking engineering solutions. The intern will support research, data analysis, and project development related to CCUS initiatives, helping to advance Shell’s commitment to a lower-carbon future.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in data collection, analysis, and interpretation related to ongoing carbon capture and sequestration projects.
- Conduct literature reviews and research on emerging CCUS technologies, policy frameworks, and market trends.
- Support the development of technical reports, presentations, and internal documentation.
- Contribute to feasibility studies and techno-economic assessments of various CCUS pathways.
- Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and project planning activities.
- Help maintain and organize project databases and technical information.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across different departments and regions.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Earth Sciences, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
- Strong academic record and a genuine interest in climate change and carbon mitigation technologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts and technologies quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with data analysis software or programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
- Familiarity with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, PRO/II).
- Understanding of basic geological concepts related to CO2 storage.
- Previous internship or project experience in an energy or environmental sector.
- Participation in relevant academic projects or research initiatives.
