Job Description
Join FedEx as a dedicated Flatbed Driver, where you’ll play a crucial role in the timely and safe delivery of specialized freight. Key Responsibilities
- Operate flatbed trucks safely and efficiently for local and regional deliveries.
- Load, unload, and secure various types of freight using appropriate tie-downs, chains, and binders.
- Perform tarping duties as required to protect cargo from weather and road conditions, earning additional pay.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, documenting any issues.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery receipts, and all required paperwork.
- Adhere to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Perform minor roadside adjustments and repairs as needed.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable flatbed driving experience.
- Proven experience with tarping various types of freight.
- Clean driving record (MVR).
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading, unloading, and securing cargo.
Preferred Qualifications
- HazMat endorsement (HME).
- Tanker endorsement (N).
- Experience with oversized or specialized loads.
- High school diploma or GED.
