Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Front Office Specialist with a strong focus on Medical Billing to join our dynamic team in West Covina, CA. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, providing exceptional customer service while expertly managing administrative tasks and ensuring accurate and efficient processing of medical billing and insurance information. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the smooth operation of our front office and contributing to our patients’ positive healthcare journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and check-in/check-out patients in a friendly and professional manner.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments.
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances from patients.
- Handle patient inquiries regarding billing, insurance, and appointments.
- Schedule and reschedule patient appointments, managing the appointment calendar efficiently.
- Process referrals and authorizations as needed.
- Maintain patient records with strict confidentiality and accuracy in our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
- Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance companies, identifying and correcting any billing errors.
- Follow up on unpaid claims, denials, and appeals with insurance carriers.
- Work collaboratively with the billing department to resolve complex billing issues.
- Assist with other administrative duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical front office or medical billing role.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and common medical billing practices.
- Strong understanding of insurance verification, co-pays, deductibles, and claim submission processes.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or certification in Medical Office Administration or Medical Billing and Coding.
- Experience with specific EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or NextGen.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus.
- Knowledge of local healthcare regulations and compliance standards.
