Job Description
BayCare HomeCare is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Home Health Aides. This role is perfect for those new to healthcare or looking to expand their skills, as we offer comprehensive training for diverse clinical tasks. As a Home Health Aide, you will provide essential personal care, support daily living activities, and assist with basic clinical procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse or therapist. You will play a vital role in helping our patients maintain their independence and achieve optimal health outcomes in their home environment. We are committed to your growth and provide ongoing education to ensure you are confident and competent in your role.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral hygiene.
- Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and ambulation using appropriate equipment.
- Help with light housekeeping tasks directly related to the patient's care.
- Monitor and record vital signs as instructed by a supervising nurse.
- Assist with medication reminders and simple prescribed exercises.
- Observe and report any changes in the patient's condition or behavior to the supervising nurse.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary needs and assist with feeding.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.
- Document services provided accurately and timely.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and patient-focused demeanor
- Basic understanding of personal hygiene and safety principles
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with patient care
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a caregiver or in a related field
- Completion of a state-approved Home Health Aide (HHA) training program
- CPR and First Aid certification
