Job Description
As a Music Technology Tutor, you will provide one-on-one and small group instruction to students, helping them master various DAWs (e.g., Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, FL Studio) and essential music software. You will troubleshoot technical issues, explain complex concepts clearly, and guide students through projects, ensuring they develop practical skills and a strong theoretical foundation in music technology. This role requires excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to student support, and a commitment to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment, all within a 100% remote work model.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert-level tutoring and mentorship in DAWs such as Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, and FL Studio.
- Guide students through common audio software and plugin functionalities (e.g., VSTs, AUs, mixing and mastering tools).
- Offer personalized feedback on student projects, assignments, and creative works.
- Help students troubleshoot technical problems related to software, hardware, and workflow.
- Develop and deliver engaging instructional content, exercises, and demonstrations as needed.
- Monitor student progress, provide constructive criticism, and adjust teaching methods to individual learning styles.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with students and academic staff.
- Stay current with industry trends, software updates, and new music technology developments.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in at least three major DAWs (e.g., Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, FL Studio, Cubase, Studio One).
- Strong understanding of audio engineering principles, mixing, mastering, and sound design.
- Proficiency with various music software, plugins, and virtual instruments.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and pedagogical skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts in an accessible and engaging manner.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a suitable home office setup for remote work.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Production, Audio Engineering, Music Technology, or a related field.
- Prior experience in online education or remote tutoring.
- Professional experience in music production, sound design, or audio engineering.
- Certification in specific DAWs or audio software.
- Familiarity with Berklee Online's curriculum and learning management systems.
