Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Part-time Design Assistant to join our dynamic design team. This role offers a unique blend of studio-based support and valuable field experience, contributing to the development and refinement of visual, product, and brand design projects. You will work closely with experienced designers, assisting with various stages of the design process from concept to execution, with an emphasis on both creative support and practical coordination. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring design professional to gain hands-on experience with a global leader in consumer goods.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior designers with research, concept development, and creation of mood boards and presentations.
- Prepare and refine design assets, mock-ups, and prototypes for various projects, utilizing design software.
- Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers for material sourcing, sampling, and production liaison.
- Conduct field research, including retail store visits, competitor analysis, and user observations, to gather insights.
- Organize and maintain design libraries, material samples, and digital asset management systems.
- Provide administrative support to the design team, including scheduling, meeting coordination, and documentation.
- Support the preparation of design files for print, digital, and manufacturing processes.
- Actively participate in brainstorming sessions and team meetings, contributing fresh perspectives.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Basic understanding of design principles, typography, and color theory.
- Strong organizational skills with an keen eye for detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for field-based tasks.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Bachelor's or Associate's degree program in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
- A compelling portfolio demonstrating design aptitude and relevant project work.
- Experience with 3D rendering software (e.g., SketchUp, Rhino, SolidWorks) is a plus.
- Previous internship or work experience in a design-related role, particularly in consumer products or branding.
- Familiarity with market research techniques and data collection.
