Job Description
We are seeking an accomplished Senior Formulation Chemist to lead a dedicated team in Rochester, MN. This pivotal role involves overseeing the research, development, and optimization of cutting-edge formulations for our advanced materials division. As a Team Lead, you will drive innovation, mentor junior chemists, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope, contributing directly to our next generation of products. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of chemists, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Design, execute, and interpret experiments for the development of new product formulations and the improvement of existing ones.
- Manage multiple R&D projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines, budget, and quality standards.
- Utilize advanced analytical techniques to characterize materials and optimize formulation performance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and regulatory teams to ensure successful product launch and lifecycle management.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and patent applications as required.
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with safety protocols, quality systems, and regulatory guidelines.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and competitive landscape to inform strategic development directions.
Required Skills
- Expertise in chemical formulation, including understanding of material science principles, rheology, and stability.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in laboratory instrumentation and data analysis software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage projects from conception through to commercialization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
- Experience with advanced characterization techniques (e.g., SEM, FTIR, GC-MS, HPLC).
- Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis software.
- Prior experience in the adhesives, coatings, sealants, or advanced composites industry.
