Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Water & Wastewater Engineer to join our dynamic team in Northallerton. This role is crucial for the design, optimisation, and management of our water and wastewater treatment facilities and network infrastructure. You will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation and compliance of our systems, contributing to the health and well-being of our communities and the protection of the environment. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop technical solutions for water and wastewater treatment processes, network assets, and infrastructure projects.
- Conduct hydraulic modelling, process calculations, and feasibility studies for new and existing systems.
- Prepare detailed engineering specifications, drawings, and reports for various projects.
- Liaise with internal teams, external consultants, regulatory bodies, and contractors to ensure project delivery aligns with standards and timelines.
- Monitor and optimise the performance of treatment plants and network assets, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Participate in site visits, inspections, and commissioning activities to ensure quality and compliance.
- Contribute to risk assessments, health and safety planning, and environmental impact assessments.
- Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge within the team.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience in water and wastewater engineering design and operations.
- Proficiency in hydraulic modelling software (e.g., InfoWorks ICM, EPANET) or process simulation tools.
- Strong understanding of UK water industry regulations and standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Valid UK driving license or willingness to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a relevant professional institution (e.g., ICE, CIWEM).
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation).
- Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.
- Experience with asset management systems.
