Job Description

PPL Electric Utilities is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as a Smart Grid Installation Assistant. This is an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge energy technology, all while receiving comprehensive paid training. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to the deployment and maintenance of advanced smart grid systems that power our communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior technicians and engineers with the installation, configuration, and testing of smart grid devices and infrastructure.
- Learn and adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
- Handle and organize tools, equipment, and materials required for smart grid installations.
- Perform basic diagnostic checks and troubleshooting under supervision.
- Document installation activities, equipment status, and maintenance records accurately.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and company vehicles.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project progress and challenges.
Required Skills
- Eagerness and aptitude for learning new technical skills and concepts.
- Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when necessary.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Some vocational training or coursework in electronics, electrical systems, or a related technical field.
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with mobile devices.
- Prior experience in a labor-intensive role or a construction environment.
