Job Description
We are seeking experienced and dedicated Sprinter Van Owner Operators with a strong focus on expedited freight to partner with XPO Logistics in the Stockton, CA area. This is an exceptional opportunity for entrepreneurial individuals who own their Sprinter van and are looking for consistent, high-value freight. As an Owner Operator, you’ll be an independent contractor, leveraging your vehicle and expertise to provide critical, time-sensitive delivery services, benefiting from XPO’s extensive network and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain a Sprinter van for the safe and efficient transport of expedited freight.
- Manage time-critical deliveries, adhering strictly to pickup and delivery schedules.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery details.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure cargo is properly secured and handled according to industry standards.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
- Manage all aspects of your independent business, including insurance and expenses.
Required Skills
- Valid Class C (or equivalent) Driver's License.
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Clean driving record (MVR).
- Current medical examiner's certificate (DOT Physical).
- Proof of ownership and registration for a Sprinter van (or similar cargo van suitable for expedited freight).
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to safety and customer service.
- Business acumen for managing an independent operation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Owner Operator in expedited freight.
- Experience with time-sensitive and high-value cargo.
- Knowledge of electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Ability to handle light to moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs) as needed.
- Customer service orientation and problem-solving abilities.
