Job Description
Are you eager to learn a valuable trade and build a career with tangible skills? Frank L. Blum Construction Company is seeking a motivated Tiler Assistant to join our skilled team in Winston-Salem. This is an incredible entry-level opportunity for individuals with little to no prior experience in tiling, offering comprehensive on-the-job training. You will work alongside experienced tilers, learning the intricacies of tile installation, preparation, and finishing techniques. This role offers weekly pay and a clear path to becoming a skilled tradesperson in a high-demand field. Key Responsibilities
- Assist experienced tilers with the preparation of surfaces for tile installation, including cleaning, leveling, and applying waterproofing membranes.
- Help mix and apply thin-set mortar, grout, and other tiling compounds accurately.
- Learn to cut tiles using various tools such as wet saws, grinders, and nippers, ensuring precision and safety.
- Assist in the layout and setting of tiles according to plans and specifications.
- Perform general cleanup of the work area, tools, and materials daily.
- Transport materials and tools to and from the work site efficiently.
- Follow all safety protocols and company guidelines meticulously.
- Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic, actively participating in team tasks.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites in the Winston-Salem area.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Basic understanding of measurements and angles (can be developed on the job).
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Prior experience in a construction or manual labor role is a plus, but not required.
- Familiarity with basic hand and power tools.
- Valid driver's license.
