Job Description
Join Ryder as a Forklift Yard Driver and become an essential part of our logistics team in Oxnard, CA! This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and are proficient in operating forklifts to move materials efficiently and safely within our yard. You’ll be responsible for organizing, loading, and unloading shipments, ensuring smooth transitions of goods. Key Responsibilities
- Operate various types of forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, reach truck, etc.) to move, stack, and retrieve materials and products.
- Load and unload trailers, ensuring accurate and secure placement of goods.
- Organize and maintain the yard, ensuring materials are stored efficiently and safely.
- Perform daily safety checks and maintenance on forklift equipment, reporting any issues promptly.
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against paperwork for accuracy.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding yard activities and potential issues.
- Assist with inventory counts and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Required Skills
- Proven experience operating forklifts safely and efficiently.
- Ability to work effectively in various outdoor weather conditions.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and practices.
- Physical stamina to perform manual tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a busy logistics or distribution yard.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems (WMS).
- Certification in multiple forklift types.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
