Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on policy and regulatory frameworks pertaining to energy, water, telecommunications, and environmental sectors.
- Assist in the drafting and preparation of policy briefs, reports, presentations, and other communication materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collect, organize, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data relevant to infrastructure projects and public policy initiatives.
- Support senior analysts and project managers in understanding legislative and regulatory developments at federal, state, and local levels.
- Participate actively in internal team meetings, client discussions, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Contribute to the development of project proposals and bids by providing policy insights and research support.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and policy shifts affecting Black & Veatch's services.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Environmental Studies, International Relations, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated strong research and analytical capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a collaborative member of a diverse team.
- A genuine interest in infrastructure development, energy policy, environmental regulations, or sustainable solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship or volunteer experience in a policy-related role, government agency, or think tank.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools or statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SPSS).
- Experience with legislative tracking systems or policy databases.
- Knowledge of specific regulatory bodies such as the EPA, FERC, or state public utility commissions.
