Job Description

This is a full-time, entry-level position offering comprehensive training to equip you with all the necessary skills to excel in this vital role. As a Hospital Porter, you will be crucial in ensuring the smooth daily operations of our hospital, directly impacting patient comfort and efficient service delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients via wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds between various departments (e.g., wards, operating theatres, diagnostic imaging).
- Assist with the safe and timely movement of medical equipment, supplies, and laboratory specimens throughout the hospital.
- Deliver internal mail, pharmacy items, and other essential materials to designated areas.
- Ensure patient comfort and privacy during transport, offering reassurance and clear communication.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of transport equipment (wheelchairs, stretchers) according to hospital hygiene standards.
- Respond promptly to requests from medical staff, adhering to all safety protocols and hospital policies.
- Assist with patient transfers to and from vehicles, as required.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate department.
- Adhere to infection control practices, including proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Required Skills
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to lift, push, and pull equipment and patients safely.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Basic First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
