Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Shopify Localization Specialist to join our growing team in Montreal. In this role, you will be instrumental in adapting our platform, content, and user experience to resonate with global markets, ensuring linguistic and cultural accuracy. You will work closely with product, marketing, and engineering teams to ensure that our global users feel understood and valued, driving user engagement and growth in new territories. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of various cultural nuances, and expertise in leveraging the Shopify platform for internationalization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and execute localization projects from end-to-end, including translation, cultural adaptation, and quality assurance for Shopify's platform, apps, marketing materials, and help content.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, designers, and marketing specialists to integrate localization best practices into development cycles.
- Develop and maintain localization style guides, glossaries, and terminology databases to ensure consistency across all localized content.
- Oversee relationships with external translation vendors and linguistic assets, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery.
- Conduct linguistic and functional testing of localized products to identify and resolve any localization defects or inconsistencies.
- Analyze market feedback and performance data to continually improve localization quality and effectiveness.
- Champion internationalization (i18n) and globalization (g11n) best practices within the organization.
Required Skills
- 2+ years of experience in localization, internationalization, or global content management.
- Proficiency with localization tools and platforms (e.g., CAT tools, Translation Memory, Terminology Management systems).
- Strong understanding of the Shopify platform and its functionalities.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Fluent in English and at least one other major international language (e.g., French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Mandarin).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, Computer Science, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience working in a fast-paced technology or e-commerce company.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices for localized content.
- Experience with UI/UX localization.
