Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Unarmed Federal Courthouse Security Guard to join our team in Mississauga. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of federal personnel, visitors, and property within the courthouse premises. This position requires a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to respond effectively to various security situations while maintaining a professional demeanor. You will be an integral part of a team dedicated to upholding the integrity and security of the judicial system.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of the courthouse interior and exterior to deter and detect unauthorized activities.
- Monitor surveillance systems and access control points to prevent unauthorized entry.
- Enforce courthouse policies and procedures, including visitor screening and bag checks.
- Provide assistance and directions to visitors and staff while maintaining a professional and courteous attitude.
- Respond to emergencies, alarms, and security incidents in accordance with established protocols.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and daily logs.
- Liaise with law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
- Perform crowd control and maintain order during court proceedings or public events.
- Conduct routine security checks of doors, windows, and gates.
Required Skills
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
- Clear criminal record check.
- Excellent observational and communication skills.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Strong de-escalation and conflict resolution abilities.
- Proficiency in basic report writing.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or military.
- Knowledge of federal security regulations and protocols.
- Experience with access control systems and CCTV monitoring.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
- Customer service experience.
