Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and professional Swing Drivers to join our FedEx Express team in Gaithersburg, Maryland. As a Swing Driver, you will play a crucial role in our operations by covering various routes within a designated area, ensuring the timely and safe delivery and pickup of packages. This position offers excellent pay and the opportunity to become highly skilled across multiple routes, making every day a new and engaging challenge. You will operate company vehicles, interact with customers, and uphold the high standards of service that FedEx Express is known for. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles (vans, box trucks) to deliver and pick up packages within specified timeframes.
- Learn and effectively cover a variety of routes as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and efficiency.
- Handle packages with care, ensuring secure loading, unloading, and transportation.
- Provide exceptional customer service during interactions, representing FedEx Express professionally.
- Complete necessary paperwork and electronic manifests accurately and legibly.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and report any maintenance issues.
- Utilize handheld scanners and other technology for tracking and proof of delivery.
- Work independently while maintaining constant communication with dispatch and supervisors.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 75 lbs (with assistance for heavier items).
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and navigate diverse routes.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Successfully pass a drug screen and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a delivery or courier role.
- Familiarity with local Gaithersburg and surrounding Maryland areas.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to new routes and operational changes.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
