Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Board Certified Music Therapist to join our dynamic interdisciplinary team. This vital role involves providing therapeutic music interventions to patients across various units, including palliative care, rehabilitation, oncology, and pediatrics, within our hospital setting. The successful candidate will design and implement individualized and group music therapy programs to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs, enhancing patient quality of life and supporting recovery. This is an on-site, hospital-based position with full benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patient needs and develop individualized music therapy treatment plans.
  • Provide direct music therapy services to patients in individual and group settings across various hospital units.
  • Utilize various music therapy techniques, including receptive, re-creative, improvisational, and compositional methods.
  • Document patient progress, responses, and interventions in electronic health records accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other allied health professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Educate patients, families, and staff about the benefits and goals of music therapy.
  • Maintain compliance with professional standards of practice, AMTA guidelines, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, in-services, and continuing education to enhance professional growth.

Required Skills

  • Board Certification (MT-BC) from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Therapy from an AMTA-approved program.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in playing guitar, piano, and singing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse patient populations and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Music Therapy.
  • Experience with specific patient populations such as oncology, palliative care, or pediatrics.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based music therapy practices and research.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
