Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Infrastructure Engineer with a strong focus on cloud migration to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in migrating our existing on-premise infrastructure and applications to cloud-native solutions, primarily within a public cloud environment. You will design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure, ensuring seamless transitions and optimal performance. This position requires a deep understanding of cloud architecture, infrastructure as code, automation, and a passion for building robust distributed systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage scalable and secure cloud infrastructure solutions for Pinterest's core services, with a primary focus on public cloud migration strategies.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform to automate provisioning and configuration of cloud resources.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to assess current infrastructure, identify migration candidates, and define migration roadmaps and execution plans.
- Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines for cloud deployments, ensuring efficient and reliable releases.
- Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive measures to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support critical infrastructure and respond to incidents.
- Evaluate and integrate new cloud technologies and best practices to continually improve our cloud environment.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices across all cloud deployments.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, with at least 3 years focused on public cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform.
- Strong experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go) for automation.
- Solid understanding of Linux operating systems, networking, and security principles.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and practices (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Spinnaker).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect).
- Experience migrating large-scale applications or services from on-premise to cloud environments.
- Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with data storage solutions (SQL, NoSQL databases, object storage) in cloud environments.
