Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in extensive training programs covering tax legislation, customs procedures, and enforcement techniques.
  • Assist senior officers in conducting audits and investigations of individuals and businesses to ensure compliance with tax laws.
  • Support the inspection of goods and persons entering or exiting Canada to identify prohibited or restricted items and collect duties and taxes.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to inspections and investigations.
  • Communicate effectively with the public, explaining regulations and procedures in a clear and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to ensure cohesive and effective enforcement.
  • Contribute to the identification of potential risks and non-compliance issues.
  • Adhere strictly to all departmental policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ethical conduct.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada security clearance.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in criminology, law enforcement, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • Bilingualism (English/French).
  • Experience in customer service or public interaction roles.
  • Familiarity with Canadian tax or customs regulations.
  • Valid driver's license.
