Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical QA Tester with a deep understanding of game engines, particularly the Frostbite Engine, to join our team in Naperville. This role is pivotal in ensuring the highest quality of our next-generation titles. You will be responsible for designing and executing comprehensive technical test plans, identifying complex bugs, and working closely with development teams to resolve issues, ensuring a seamless and immersive player experience. Your expertise in engine-level testing, automation, and performance analysis will be crucial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute detailed technical test plans for core engine features, tools, and game systems, with a focus on the Frostbite Engine.
  • Perform in-depth debugging and root cause analysis of complex technical issues, collaborating directly with engineering and development teams.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts and tools to improve efficiency and coverage of QA processes.
  • Monitor game performance, stability, and resource utilization across various platforms, identifying bottlenecks and areas for optimization.
  • Provide clear, concise, and detailed bug reports, including steps to reproduce, expected results, and impact assessment.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on engine functionality and testing best practices within the team.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide early feedback on technical risks and potential quality issues.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in technical QA or software testing within the video game industry.
  • Proven experience with game engines, specifically the Frostbite Engine.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Lua) and/or programming languages (e.g., C++).
  • Strong understanding of game development pipelines, tools, and methodologies.
  • Experience with performance profiling and memory debugging tools.
  • Solid understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and test automation.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Perforce, Git).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with other commercial game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
  • Experience testing across multiple platforms (PC, console).
  • Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Prior experience working on AAA titles.
