Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Trainee Port Security Officer to join our team at a crucial government facility near Banbury. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to begin a career in security, specifically within a sensitive and high-stakes environment. You will receive comprehensive training to develop the skills and knowledge required to maintain the highest standards of security for personnel, assets, and information entering and exiting the facility. Key Responsibilities
- Undergo comprehensive training on security protocols, systems, and emergency procedures.
- Assist senior security officers in monitoring access points for vehicles and personnel.
- Conduct routine patrols and inspections of the facility perimeter and designated areas.
- Learn to operate security equipment, including CCTV, access control systems, and search apparatus.
- Assist with visitor registration, vehicle checks, and bag searches as required.
- Report any suspicious activities, security breaches, or incidents to supervisory staff promptly.
- Maintain accurate records and complete daily security logs.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, facility staff, and visitors.
- Participate in drills and exercises to enhance preparedness for various security scenarios.
Required Skills
- No prior security experience required; full training will be provided.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- A high level of integrity and trustworthiness.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Eligibility to obtain necessary security clearances.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service or public-facing role.
- Full UK driving license.
- Basic First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Knowledge of security best practices (beneficial but not essential).
