Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Loading Dock Operative to join our dynamic team in Omaha. This is a full-time position with a focus on efficient and safe handling of freight. You will be responsible for loading, unloading, sorting, and moving products and materials by hand or with the aid of material handling equipment. Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload freight from trucks and trailers, including heavy items.
- Verify count and condition of freight upon receipt and before shipment.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment efficiently and safely (training provided if necessary).
- Sort and stage freight according to destination or product type.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment on the loading dock.
- Perform routine pre-shift and post-shift inspections of equipment.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as DOT regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate movement of goods.
- Assist with inventory counts and maintain accurate records as required.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy items regularly (up to 75 lbs) throughout a shift.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading labels and counting.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, loading dock, or similar industrial setting.
- Forklift certification or experience operating other material handling equipment.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems.
