Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Patient Transporters at the McGill University Health Centre. This is an entry-level position perfect for those looking to start a career in healthcare with no prior experience required. As a Patient Transporter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe movement of patients, equipment, and specimens throughout our hospital facilities. Your work directly contributes to patient comfort, efficient hospital operations, and the overall quality of care we provide. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and courteously transport patients to and from various hospital departments (e.g., operating rooms, diagnostic imaging, patient rooms) via wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds.
- Assist patients with transferring to and from transport equipment, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
- Transport medical equipment, supplies, and specimens as required, following established protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff regarding transport details and potential delays.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of transport equipment.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control, safety, and patient confidentiality.
- Respond to transport requests promptly and efficiently.
- Provide compassionate support and reassurance to patients during transport.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent physical stamina and strength to push/pull patients and equipment over long distances.
- Compassionate and empathetic demeanor.

- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA/PIPEDA compliance).
- Basic understanding of safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Basic First Aid and CPR certification (will be provided if not already held).
- Familiarity with hospital environments.
