Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Inpatient Pharmacy Aide to join our night shift team. This vital role supports our pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in ensuring the efficient and accurate delivery of medications to hospital wards. Working in a fast-paced, hospital-based environment, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute directly to patient care and safety. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start their career in healthcare or gain valuable experience in a hospital pharmacy setting, especially those comfortable with night hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in the preparation and distribution of medications.
- Deliver medications and pharmaceutical supplies to various hospital wards and departments during night shifts.
- Maintain inventory, including receiving, stocking, and rotating supplies to ensure proper storage and minimize waste.
- Organize and maintain a clean and orderly work environment within the pharmacy and on the wards.
- Process medication returns and properly dispose of expired or unused medications.
- Perform routine clerical tasks, such as answering phones and maintaining records.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations, including infection control protocols.
- Support the pharmacy team in other duties as assigned to ensure seamless operations.
- Operate pharmacy automation systems and equipment as directed.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work night shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and push/pull carts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or pharmacy setting (volunteer experience is a plus).
- Current Pharmacy Technician registration with the California Board of Pharmacy (or eligibility to obtain).
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- CPR certification.
