Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Painting & Sculpture Studio Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in a professional art studio environment, supporting our resident artists and contributing to the daily operations of the academy. You will work alongside experienced professionals, learn about various art techniques, studio management, and the creative process. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about visual arts, eager to learn, and looking to build a foundation in studio practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist resident artists with studio tasks, including material preparation, organization, and cleanup.
  • Support the maintenance and organization of painting and sculpture tools and equipment.
  • Prepare canvases, mix paints, and assist with sculpture fabrication and finishing processes.
  • Research and source art materials, supplies, and tools as needed.
  • Help with the installation and de-installation of studio projects and exhibitions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized studio environment.
  • Document artistic processes through photography and note-taking.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to studio operations and academy programs.
  • Learn and apply best practices for handling and preserving various art mediums.

Required Skills

  • Basic knowledge of painting and/or sculpture techniques.
  • Strong passion for visual arts and a desire to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to take initiative.
  • Physical ability to lift and move art materials and equipment.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a fine arts program (e.g., BFA, DEC in Visual Arts).
  • Prior experience working in an art studio, gallery, or similar creative environment.
  • A foundational portfolio demonstrating interest in painting or sculpture.
  • Familiarity with various art safety protocols.
  • Fluency in French and English.
