Job Description
AECOM is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Entry Level Mitigation Monitor to join our environmental team in San Diego, California. This immediate hire position is perfect for recent graduates or individuals looking to start a career in environmental consulting and compliance. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that construction and development projects adhere to environmental regulations and approved mitigation plans, protecting sensitive resources throughout project lifecycles. This role offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and a clear path for professional growth within a leading global firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site monitoring of construction activities to ensure compliance with environmental permits, regulations, and mitigation measures.
- Document field observations, including photographic logs, daily reports, and non-compliance incidents.
- Identify potential environmental impacts and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, construction crews, and regulatory agencies.
- Assist in the preparation of environmental compliance reports and other project documentation.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings and environmental awareness training sessions.
- Operate and maintain field equipment safely and efficiently.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Geography, Planning, or a related field.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a field environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and traverse uneven terrain.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship or volunteer experience in environmental monitoring, field biology, or conservation.
- Basic understanding of state and federal environmental regulations (e.g., CEQA, NEPA, CESA, ESA).
- Experience with GPS devices or GIS software.
- OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour construction safety certification.
