Job Description
Join the UPS team as a Yard Spotter and play a crucial role in our logistics operations in Lincoln, NE. This position involves precisely moving trailers and equipment within our yard facility, ensuring efficient flow and organization without any public road work. You will be responsible for yard checks, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and supporting the overall warehouse and distribution processes. This is a static shift roster position, offering predictability and stability in your work schedule. We are looking for a dedicated individual with a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence to help us keep things moving.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently move trailers (28', 48', 53') between dock doors, parking spots, and maintenance areas within the yard.
- Conduct regular yard checks to accurately track trailer locations and contents.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on yard spotter equipment and report any maintenance issues.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse personnel, and other team members regarding trailer movements and priorities.
- Ensure the yard is organized, clean, and free of hazards.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including DOT regulations for yard operations.
- Assist with other yard and warehouse duties as needed to support operations.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience operating heavy vehicles or yard spotters.
- Proven ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A) is a plus, but not required for this yard-only position.
- Experience in a logistics, transportation, or warehousing environment.
- Familiarity with yard management systems or inventory tracking software.
