Job Description
As an Audio Systems Designer at AVI-SPL, you will be a pivotal member of our design team, responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and documenting cutting-edge audio solutions for complex AV integration projects. This role requires a deep understanding of acoustical principles, signal flow, digital audio networking, and control systems. You will work closely with clients, sales teams, project managers, and engineers to translate requirements into detailed, functional, and reliable audio system designs that meet the highest industry standards. Your expertise will directly contribute to delivering exceptional audiovisual experiences for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and engineering of advanced audio systems for various environments, including corporate boardrooms, auditoriums, performance spaces, and collaborative meeting rooms.
- Develop detailed system block diagrams, wiring schematics, rack elevations, and architectural drawings using CAD software.
- Specify appropriate audio equipment, including microphones, speakers, amplifiers, DSPs, mixers, and digital audio network devices (Dante, AVB, AES67).
- Perform acoustical analysis and modeling to ensure optimal sound coverage and quality within diverse spaces.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to gather requirements, present design concepts, and incorporate feedback throughout the project lifecycle.
- Create comprehensive scopes of work, bid packages, and project documentation.
- Provide technical support and guidance to installation teams during project implementation.
- Stay current with emerging audio technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
- Conduct site surveys to assess existing infrastructure and environmental conditions.
Required Skills
- Expertise in audio system design principles and signal flow.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) for creating technical drawings.
- Strong knowledge of digital audio networking protocols (Dante, AVB, AES67).
- Experience with DSP programming and configuration (e.g., Biamp, QSC, Extron).
- Familiarity with acoustical modeling software (e.g., EASE, CATT-Acoustic).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- CTS-D (Certified Technology Specialist – Design) certification.
- Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with video conferencing and control system integration.
- Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., AVIXA, AES).
- Project management experience in AV integration.
