Job Description
As a Retirement Transition Coach specializing in seniors, you will play a crucial role in empowering individuals to navigate the complexities and emotional aspects of transitioning into retirement. This part-time position focuses on providing non-financial, holistic support, guidance, and resources to our senior clients as they embark on this new chapter of life. You will work closely with clients to identify their personal goals, address concerns, and develop personalized strategies for a fulfilling post-career life, covering areas like lifestyle adjustments, social engagement, wellness, and purpose. This role is about active listening, empathy, and facilitating a positive, well-prepared retirement experience. This is a hybrid role, combining in-office consultations with some remote flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions with senior clients to explore their aspirations and concerns regarding retirement.
- Help clients identify and articulate their personal goals for health, social connections, hobbies, and purpose in retirement.
- Provide guidance and resources on non-financial aspects of retirement planning, such as wellness, social engagement, community involvement, and legacy planning.
- Facilitate discussions on potential challenges during retirement transition and assist clients in developing coping strategies.
- Collaborate with financial advisors (where appropriate and with client consent) to ensure a holistic approach to retirement readiness.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress, ensuring confidentiality and professional standards.
- Stay informed on best practices and trends in retirement coaching and senior lifestyle transitions.
- Organize and potentially lead small group workshops or seminars on retirement readiness topics for seniors.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in coaching, counseling, or a related field, particularly with older adults.
- Exceptional active listening and empathy skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with diverse individuals.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in using basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Deep understanding of the psychological and social aspects of retirement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in professional coaching (e.g., ICF certification) or a related field.
- Background in gerontology, social work, psychology, or a related human services discipline.
- Experience working in a financial services environment or closely with financial professionals.
- Familiarity with local community resources and senior services in New Port Richey/Pasco County.
