Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Live Sound Technician to join our touring production team. This role is crucial for delivering exceptional audio experiences for concerts and live events across various venues. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in setting up, operating, and tearing down professional audio equipment, with a strong focus on mixing for live performances. You must be prepared for extensive travel, as this position involves working on various tours and events. Your expertise will ensure that every performance sounds impeccable, from intimate club shows to large arena concerts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot complex audio systems for live concerts and events.
  • Perform comprehensive sound checks, including microphone placement, input gain staging, and monitor mixing.
  • Mix front-of-house (FOH) and monitor audio during live performances, ensuring optimal sound quality for artists and audience.
  • Routinely inspect, maintain, and make minor repairs to audio equipment, including consoles, amplifiers, loudspeakers, and microphones.
  • Collaborate effectively with tour managers, artists, venue staff, and other production crew members.
  • Adhere strictly to production schedules and technical riders.
  • Manage and organize audio cables, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Safely load and unload equipment, often requiring physical exertion.
  • Travel extensively with touring productions, sometimes for extended periods.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a Live Sound Technician, preferably with concert or touring experience.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard digital and analog mixing consoles (e.g., Avid, DiGiCo, Yamaha, Midas).
  • Strong understanding of acoustics, signal flow, gain structure, and audio processing techniques.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex audio problems quickly and effectively under pressure.
  • Familiarity with various types of microphones, wireless systems, and in-ear monitors (IEMs).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and stand for long periods.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
  • Certifications in specific audio technologies (e.g., Dante, AVB, Smaart).
  • Experience with large-format line array systems (e.g., L-Acoustics, d&b audiotechnik, Meyer Sound).
  • Proficiency with lighting or video systems is a plus.
  • Prior experience working for a major production company or touring with national acts.
