Job Description

Join our dedicated surgical team at Colchester Hospital as a Theatre Porter. In this vital role, you will provide essential support to our surgical suites, ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient environment for patients and clinical staff. This position is critical to the smooth operation of our operating theatres, involving the safe movement of patients, equipment, and specimens, as well as maintaining cleanliness standards. Full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided, and comprehensive training will be given to ensure you are confident and competent in all aspects of the role. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and compassionately transport patients to and from the operating theatre, wards, and other departments.
  • Assist with the movement and positioning of specialist equipment and instruments within the surgical suite.
  • Ensure operating theatres and recovery areas are kept clean, tidy, and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Transport specimens to laboratories and blood products as required, following strict protocols.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, infection control policies, and patient confidentiality guidelines.
  • Provide support to nursing and medical staff as needed to facilitate efficient patient flow and theatre turnover.
  • Manage and dispose of waste safely and according to Trust procedures.
  • Maintain a professional and empathetic demeanor with patients and their families.

Preferred Qualifications
